someone has once said that singlish uniquely identify us as singaporean. im thinking to go one step further today by taking a look at the lingo that uniquely identifies the way me and my frens talk!!

cuppa
noun. cup of coffee.
"dude, lets go for a cuppa"

jute (sometimes pronounced as "jud")
noun. use to describe a very good looking woman.
"dude, your colleague is very jute"

kid
noun. term used to refer to my mate, gary.
"kid, wanna meet for dinner later?"

maccas (pronounced as "mecca" with a "s")
noun. aussie slang incorporated. refer to macdonalds.
"where are we meeting. maccas?"

dk
noun. "dirty king". refers to someone or something which is unhygienic or not clean.
"dun go to that toilet. its super dk lor."

hard
verb. diffcult to do. not going. no.
"q: dude, intro me to that friend of yours from uni..."
"a: hard la.."

chill
verb. hang out and relax.
"lets got to starbucks and chill"

these are some that i recall off-hand. will add more once i put some serious thought into it. a little help here will be appreciated =)

not been bloggin

we are here today tryin to understand why a certain someone has not been blogging for the past wk or so. upon our investigation, we derived a couple of facts which may give light to us comprehending this situation

fact one:
that certain someone has been struggling to make time between work n cali

fact two:
he hasn't had anything wonderful to write except that he has a new job that seems promising

fact three:
he is simply put, lazy

in addition, our investigation yield that not only has he not been blogging, he also hasn't been playing WoW for the past 2 wks either

united we stand

its exactly one month before our movie pricing is hiked up by $0.50 for wkdays and $1.00 for wkends by our 3 major players. namely,

1. eng wah organisation
2. golden village
3. shaw organisation

the justifications that they provide are mere excuses for simply ripping us off. i do not and will not stand for such tyranny. I solemly swear that i will attempt to boycott cinemas from these 3 companies if they persist in increasing our movie ticket prices.

in fact, i will simply give business to their competitors; cathay! or even subscribe to star movies! Do join me at petitioning against this price hike.

the trip is on !!

im have booked my trip to the Sangihe Isles. i have succumbed to my oceanlust in the end. will brave the risk of quakes and tsunamis since i cannot denied the overwhelming call of little-explored islands, active volcanos and heated pools. underwater, hopefully the vis will be crystal clear, healthy corals and breeming with life. will take heaps of photos to justify this adventure!!

prudential girl

received a birthday card yesterday. its from someone i barely know. how weird is that? for the effort, i'll talk a little about this someone, zynn. (appreciate if anyone has any clue to pronouncing that)

met her on the street pushing financial advices which we all know is just another subsitution for selling insurance. i decided to stop and do their so-called survey just because im a nice person and way too free after work. and whats up with prudential getting their advisors to use that lame survey excuse to talk to the public? how many time are we asking the same questions over and over again:

advisor: "do you do regular savings?"
advisor: "how much do you save?"
advisor: "where do you put your savings?"
advisor: "do you know what is the bank interest rates?"
advisor: "what do you think of 5% interest rate for your savings?"
(advisor then whips out calculator and start doing the math...)

come on! they really have to be more creative than that. because i don't have regular savings. on occasion where i save, it goes to the bank. and for the 100th time, yes i know that the bank pays me less than 2% interest but answer me this, why would i want to save long term when i need the money for diving, not forgetting WoW subscription?

zynn, to her credit tried hard but im well prepared for all her questions. we talked for about 15 mintues and i think that was it, but noooo.... she drop me a call some time later for a chat. And now this... i definately have to buy her coffee for her trouble. hell, i'll even recommend her to my friends who are looking for an advisor. for the record, i did not buy any policy from her.
